Just Picked up The Division for the FPS Evenings.  Don't know too much about it.  Do I keep a character for those evenings or do we just all jump in at different levels?  Knowing my Internet, its probably going to download for 3 days ;(

Edit: I deselected the PTS download.  I guess that's optional.  So maybe can play tomorrow night (Monday).

PTS is not needed, at least I haven't needed it.

In terms of characters. You'll need to get through the opening mission minimum but also some of the base building missions would be no harm. These are missions you so to bring parts of the base online.

Enemies get scaled up in difficulty to match the highest level player. So for example when I ran with Jay Force he was level 30 and I was 9. I could survive about a second of sustained fire but I earned 125xp per kill (25 per kill playing at my own level). I had to hang back and play safe but it wasn't too bad. And 5 times the XP was great!

So to answer, you don't have to be at the same level but you don't want to be very far apart. I got to level 10 just doing the base building missions. So anyone who wants to play should aim to get those done. Having said that I can do them with you but you'll need to be a little more carful to stay in cover and engage smartly.
Oh, I bought the season pass as it is on sale :)

Mine is downloading at a fair clip.  Should be done by 7pm.  Off to a 50th party.  Should be able to try for an hour or more tonight.
Some further info. I spun up a new character and went through all the early missions that allow you to move from Brooklyn to Manhattan. This took about an hour and resulted in a level 4 character. I also got some decent gear but I did the missions on hard. Not a big deal, hard means the enemies soak up more damage, but if you've learned the mechanics you'll be fine.
I'd advise new players to get this part out of the way first. We can then run our base building missions together which will be so much more fun than doing them on your own. Sound like a plan?

PS: If you start at exact the same time you can run the Brooklyn training missions together.

My VOIP setup still not working.  My Razer Tiamat coloured cables have lost all colour and they don't seem to match the cable layout diagram.  Still don't have mic input working, so no VOIP for me.  Will play through the intro levels for a bit.  I corrected my username on UPLAY from istoff to istoffberg as I had typed it in incorrectly before.  Hopefully the multplayer will use the steam names instead.
Bummer, voice is pretty essential to coordinate things. Maybe we can out our heads together and get that mic working :)

It's a trivial thing.  Will sort it out soon.
A Spacetoy Amazing gun fights. The sound is pretty good also.
Just picked it up before the sale ended! What is PTS?
