WOW. Loving the F.A.S.

WOW. Loving the F.A.S.

Just did 3.5mil in what seems like less than an hour. Or it could be a case of time flies when you're having fun. Was planning on adding a FDL to the stable after the 1.5 buffs, but this is an excellent interim choice. The HAZ RES at LTT 4961 is particularly generous today. Clippers abound. Quite a few high value Anaconda's too.

Both don't differ much in price, the FDL will have Shield strength going for it but until they add a huge weapon that also works against small to medium ships well I really don't see it outperforming the FAS. Rather the opposite.
Michael Birke I'd be interested to see how a FAS measures up against an FDL with a large beam, 2 medium pulses and 2 rails/hammers after 1.5 release.....both with military armour- the FDL shields are much better - but the FAS has the edge with armour.....in PvE in a RES the FDL is close to the FAS now for combat performance

Michael Birke 20mil vs 51mil ? Big difference. Or am I missing something?
Ian Stoffberg fully kitted they are both around 100Mcr

Avaddon Nephilim what build are you using? I'm pretty sure mine is < 60mcr. Still using standard bulkheads tho.

Avaddon Nephilim Since I discovered gimballed pulses, I've never bothered with anything else. That brings the cost of 5 pulses on the FAS to about 500k. Cheap. Also, don't have military bulkheads. Haven't seen any at LTT 4961. Might have to move around to find them...

Avaddon Nephilim I tried the 2 beams. I find the pulses do more damage as I can fire 4 pulses vs 2 beams. I did about half an hour session and lost my shields twice. it took me longer to kill a couple of dropships and assault ships. Encounters seemed to take longer as power management was harder. I think with the pulses I am able to keep my shields in better shape during a fight. It's probably my fighting style which isn't effective for beams...

To each his own, I guess.
Ian Stoffberg pip management is your friend.....2 large beams to higher alpha strike damage vs shields- but for prolonged firing pulses do more damage per MJ used.......horses for courses
Ian Stoffberg how do you find the pulse laser performance? I'm thinking of switching to the FAS from my Python as at the moment I'm enjoying all the combat based community goals. Currently I don't feel that I'm doing any better in CZ and Haz Rez than I was in my Vulture. In terms of credits earned per hour.

I'm able to run 2 large and 2 medium pulses.  Does decent damage although you have to get your orientation right to ensure all 4 are hitting.  I think better than Vulture due to increased speed.  I've been playing in an Anaconda almost exclusively since about April/May so I guess my memories of the Vulture is a bit distance.  I think once the shields are down, they come back quicker, but I don't think I ever had a maxxed Vulture.  Compared to the python, main diff is the speed and lower insurance cost benefits.  Python with 3 pulses is awesome.  You get spoiled by 4 large pulses on an Annie though... For me credits/hour largely depends on the spawn random generator.  I tend not take take on wings when I am alone.  I let them weaken each other and then step in...
Ian Stoffberg can you fire for long with all pips to weapons in that configuration?
Ian Stoffberg said…
No. Not that long. Will get more stats
Ian Stoffberg thanks for the details Ian. Much appreciated :)

Basically, managed to get about 20 seconds continuous fire of all 4 pulse lasers. Of course going down to 2 will prolong that by quite a bit. Nothing stayed alive long enough for me to do more testing ;)
Ian Stoffberg 20 seconds is pretty good. Sounds like Vulture territory. Need to research ranking up asap!

Strange thing. I never intentionally ranked up. I spent a long time trading when i started out. I did the odd mission if it was easy. Lots of deliver slaves mostly. Did not notice that I had the fed rank.
Ian Stoffberg I don't look forward to ranking up especially having heard Michael Birke story of bugs and grinding.

Good Guys Gaming GGG yes, I find it very stupid that progress beyond Post Commander and equivalent ranks is merely a large mission count, not taking in account difficulty or time involved at all. And then you get a Carrot erm Corvette dangling and suddenly all people are in Tuna erm the Tun system.
