Total Conversion

Inspired by Dennis Wronka, let me tell you a cautionary tale about Alpha Rex'es and overzealous idiot friends. Soon after I logged in yesterday, Apex shouted that he needed me to bring all the dino's to kill an Alpha. No problem, I started gathering them, they followed eagerly and while I was organising them I asked. Is it a Raptor or a Carno? In other words, do I need 1 Rex or 2 along with the 2 Allosaurs, 2 Bears, 2 Sabretooth Tigers, 2 Thylacoleo's and 2 Theras. We always tame 2 of each, except for Argy's. No, it's a Rex, he says casually? Are you serious, I'm turning back, says cowardly me. No, we can do it, says Captain Optimistic. What happened next was pure carnage. Thankfully I had not taken all the dino's so I still have a Doedic, Ankly, 2 Argy's and 1 Thera left. Have since managed to tame a single Rex. The worst part of all of this is that we managed to kill the rex with about 30 rifle shots.... And the saddles lost...Quite a few of

We play on a hardcore mode server, for those who don't know that means we loose our character if we die. We have mitigated this a bit by having a "cornerstone" in our tribe. Basically just a character from a random account that keeps our belongings in the tribe if we all wipe on an adventure. It's also worth noting that my favorite part of Ark is the adventure! So I tend not to research things online before checking it out myself. Just across the pond and up the hill from our beach is a cool looking castle ruin. It's a location I have explored a few times but never find anything inside. I keep going back because my tribe mates swear it is filled with spiders and bats. I want to get a look at them myself b

This morning I decided to skip the podcasts for the morning commute. Sorry Kevin Smith, Neil de Grasse Tyson, Radiolab and the gang at the Skeptics Guide. Google Play was playing Walkin in my Shoes, but I decided to check out the Spotify Daily Mix as there auto playlists are supposed to be soooo good. First track was the linked Personal Jesus mix. Damn. I was punching the steering wheel and revelling in the punchy bass and malicious synths. Such a good version of the song. When my Spotify trial ends, I won't be subscribing as they don't offer a family plan in ZA, but I might come back if they do. It's the Cape Town Jazz Festival tonight. Screw that crap. 2 Quick tips if you didn't already know. Above the inventory slots is an icon with a down arrow. It will pull items from all containers near you. Sometimes you need more wood. Click the icon, scroll down to wood and pull. Useful! If you need lots of raw meat to be spoiled quickly. Select all the meat in your inventory and do split all. They will all spoil at the same time. Hope this is useful to somebody.

Flying around Ragnarok I found a bunch of metal, so I was feeling pretty good when I returned to my base only to find an Argentavis high overhead. I was pleased as I wouldn't mind taming one as they have higher strength and carry potential.   My excitement was spoiled when it attacked the 2 tame Pteranodons we had recently acquired.  We were in the process of acquiring a second saddle, so only one was flyable.  The 2 Pterry's responded to the attack and the 3 birds swirled higher and higher.  I'd seen this before so I immediately tried to recall them, but they didn't respond to a general call, I eventually had to do a "follow one" to each bird in sequence.  Only the first one responded.  As luck would have it, the one without the saddle.  It looks like my other one killed the Argy and is now flying high above the base.  I hope he decides to land because he didn't respond to any hails from me, way below.  Only option now is to build a large enough building
