No Man's Sky 3 minute review.  Worth $45 that I paid.  Hope they patch it in the next day or so as I'm off to a wedding.  Back in 24h!

I like the activitys on the planets so far but almost everything that has to do with spaceships is over simplified.

The problem is that the PC version of No Man's Sky is so buggy, optimised and, console centric that it makes Version 1.0 Bethesda games look polished.

I got no performance problems on an pretty old machine, no bugs either. The first session started stuttering after 2 hours but today it ran fine.

Eric Barton a pity, I got warned already. Did you try it nevertheless?

I like it. I like the style of graphics. My only problem with the graphics is there there is a lot of fade in from the terrain as its being generated. (PS4)

Michael Birke no I haven't had the chance. Looks like I'll be waiting for the inevitable game of the year edition.

So 8 hours later.  Still enjoying it.  Basically still early days.  If this is what you can do with procedural generation for Planets, then I guess I'm happy if Season 3 of Elite Dangerous will have something similar (but better).
$45 well spent.  It has given me more entertainment than a day out at the movies (including snacks).  I honestly can't complain about value.

Negatives for me are the lack of any kind of flight model.  The inability to invert flight controls (up means down, dammit) and the lack of universe physics (distance / speed / etc).  Positives are all the procedural stuff.  I'm pretty content just walking around and watching the engine do its thing.  The fact that the game has very few textures, the algorithms do a decent job making the materials.  The plants and animals seem diverse, but believable and the deformable objects are not cubes.  Sort of the more advanced version of Minecraft for me.  This game desperately needs to adopt the Elite approach of constant content mods.  I would love to have this game grow the way ED  has.  I will definitely be playing it a lot more.  I expect the devs will patch out the graphical / framerate issues that appear when you start the game, but they tend to disappear after a while.  I have upped the default graphical settings, removed the 30fps lock and upped the resolution.  It's my wife's birthday tomorrow so I won't be playing (as much) tomorrow ;)
